Poetry + Film / Hack presents both artforms in collaboration, by adding live poetry readings to the viewing experience of splendid films. We choose movies that are socially, politically or culturally resonant and by including poetry in their presentation, expand, deepen or highlight their theme.

To bring a little intimate inspiration to our lives, P+F/H presents The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, the heartfelt story of 13-year-old William Kamkwaba, who reads a sceince book and builds a wind turbine to save his Malawian village from famine. Based on a true story.

We will watch the film together on Netflix Party* then jump to Zoom immediately after. There, the incredible poets Kareem Parkins-Brown, Ola Elhassan, Thembe Mvula, Toni Stuart, R.A Villanueva and Michelle Tiwo will be waiting to share their responses to the film’s themes of resilience, faith and creativity.
