A torn family. A hostile state. One heroic brother. One misguided son. One conflicted sister, and the second is on the run.
A blistering retelling of the epic story from the writer of Barber Shop Chronicles, Inua Ellams.
I’ve been working on this play on and off for 4 - 5 years now, and so much has changed since I completed the first draft. Yet, so much has stayed the same. This proves the brilliance of Sophocles’ play; that its characters, themes and the many ways they interact are timeless. I hope my adaptation honours the original and speaks to contemporary England, and present day London.
